The man who allegedly struck an Atmore woman with his vehicle has died, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Chief Chuck Brooks confirmed in an email tonight that Kenneth Harrison is deceased. Brooks said he was notified by Dr. James Raulerson at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Brooks said the investigation continues, but is considered a homicide. No arrest has been made, he said.
According to Atmore Advance archives, an Atmore woman passed away from injuries after being struck by a vehicle at The Tavern on Highway 31 on Aug. 5.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that APD officers responded to the bar at approximately 11:50 p.m. Saturday.
McMann said officers found Hannah Martin with severe injuries and began CPR.
“Martin was transported to the hospital, and passed away from her injuries,” McMann said. “The vehicle that struck Martin was driven by Kenneth Harrison. Harrison was assaulted by an unknown number of people in the parking lot and was found severely injured. Harrison was transported by helicopter to a trauma center.”
McMann said the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the circumstances surrounding Martin’s death and APD investigators were investigating the circumstances surrounding Harrison’s assault.
