Atmore Fire Chief Ronald Peebles has issued a burn ban for the city until further notice.

Peebles issued the notice today.

According to the National Weather Service, the high today is 99 degrees.

And a heat advisory is in effect Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The heat index value will reach up to 108 degrees on Wednesday, according to the NWS.

Additionally, a small percentage of rain is slated for Thursday through Saturday (20 percent each day).
