Walnut Hill VFD holds 54th annual Fish Fry

Walnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department held its 54th annual Fish Fry fundraiser today at its headquarters on Highway 97.

The fundraiser is held each year to raise funds for equipment and families who may be in need of a donation.

The fire department prepared fresh fish, chicken, homemade rolls, baked beans, cole slaw and dessert.

During the fundraiser, which featured giveaways, Walnut Hill’s community service, officer of the year and firefighter of the year awards were given.

The community service award was given to Chris and Sandy Creverling; Joe Witherspoon was named the firefighter of the year; and Jerry Steege was named the officer of the year.
