Vivan’s Door to hold information, tech assistance session Jan. 6 in Mobile

On Saturday, January 6, 2024, Vivian’s Door, a mobile-based nonprofit, is hosting an informational and technical assistance session on the USDA’s Discrimination Financial Assistance Program (DFAP) in Mobile, AL. This event is open to all farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners in Alabama, neighboring states, and along the Gulf Coast who would like to learn more about the financial assistance program and the application process.
The USDA implemented this program to assist farmers who have undergone discriminatory experiences in the loan process by offering financial compensation to eligible agricultural producers to remedy past inequities in the loan process. Farmers who have experienced discrimination in applying or attempting to apply for a loan before January 1, 2021, should attend this event to learn more about the program and complete their application. This informational and technical assistance session is a follow-up to the town hall meetings held on December 2, 2023. The first hour, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, we will host an informational session on navigating the. We will provide application copies onsite at the meeting.
