An Atmore woman was arrested Jan. 6 on drug charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Barbara Crook, 65, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 8:05 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer responded to the Express Mart located at 325 N. Main St. in reference to an intoxicated disorderly female.

McMann said when the officer arrived, he contacted Crook in the parking lot.

“Crook had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, was speaking incoherently and was swaying as she attempted to stand still while speaking with the officer,” McMann said. “During the interaction, the officer observed a glass pipe fall out of Crook’s pocket. The pipe had a white residue that field tested positive for cocaine.”

Crook was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
