Field lights go out during Northview baseball game against J.U. Blacksher, game to be made up

Northview’s varsity baseball game against J.U. Blacksher tonight was postponed after the lights went out on the field on the Bratt, Fla.’s field.

The Chiefs trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the first inning. The lights went out at 6:44 p.m.

School officials and team parents tried to get the lights turned back on, but the game was called at 7:15 p.m.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the top of the first, and the Chiefs tacked on two runs in the bottom half of the opening frame.

NHS head baseball coach Jeremy Greenwell said the game will be made up on a future date.

Greenwell said once the game was called that a wire connected from the power box went out during the game, causing the lights to go out.
