Mr. Willie Wayne “Running Bear” McCurdy, 72, passed away at his home on Tues., March 12, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. McCurdy is preceded in death by his parents, Willie (Annie Maude Presley) McCurdy; sister, Dorothy Annette Lane; and son Emmett James Sawyer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mavis McCurdy of Atmore; son, Thomas (Heather) Sawyer of Excel; four daughters, Angela (Jim) McMorris, of Flomaton, Connie (Tony) Lambeth, of Atmore, Becky (Bradley) Woods, of Atmore and Melinda McCurdy (Chris) Kimbrel, of Bratt, Fla.; Lori (Troy) Nelson, of Summerdale; one sister, Annie Ree Stough, of Atmore; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Mon., March 18, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC with the Rev. Bubba Rolin officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on March 18, 2024, from 1 p.m. until service time at Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC.
Pallbearers will be Josh Brown, Jayce Sells, Tommy Pickern, EthanPickern, Ryan Albritton and Wayne Martin.
Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore is in charge of all arrangements.
