Pachuta, Miss. man arrested April 20 on drug charges

A Pachuta, Miss. man was arrested April 20 on drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Chrishoun Hayes, 24, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana II, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a pistol.

McMann said at approximately 3:55 a.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to dim headlights. The officer contacted the driver, Hayes.

“While speaking with Hayes, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” McMann said. “Due to the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, the officers removed Hayes from the vehicle to conduct a probable cause search.”

McMann said the officers then recovered 4 grams of marijuana, approximately 1 gram of spice, a digital scale and a handgun.

Hayes was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
