Atmore man arrested June 20 on domestic violence charge

An Atmore man was arrested June 20 on a domestic violence charge, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said Luther Longmire, 60, was arrested and charged with domestic violence III harassment.

McMann said on the day of arrest at approximately 3:35 p.m., APD officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Virginia Drive in reference to a domestic violence complaint.

The officers made contact with the parties involved and arrested Longmire.

“Due to Longmire having two prior convictions for domestic violence related charges, this arrest and any future arrests related to domestic violence, will be upgraded to a felony charge as stated in the State of Alabama Domestic Violence statute,” McMann said.

Longmire was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.
