Atmore man arrested July 5 on receiving stolen property, drug charges

An Atmore man was arrested July 5 on receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Layton Frye, 20, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property II and possession of marijuana II.
McMann said at approximately 12:10 a.m. on the day of arrest, APD officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King and Terrace Street in reference to a disturbance involving firearms.
“When officers arrived on the scene, they encountered Layton Frye, age 20, of Atmore who was in possession of a stolen handgun and a small amount of a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana,” McMann said.
Frye was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
