NHS gets 2 key wins

The Northview High School Chiefs continued their strong season last weekend, picking up wins over two teams.

The Chiefs won at Rocky Bayou, 70-56, on Thursday night, and earned a 71-40 win over district opponent Jay on Friday.

In Thursday’s win, Neino Robinson led the Chiefs with 34 points, followed by Tony Macroy with 11. Nick Lambert added nine points, Cameron Newsome had nine points, Eric Williams scored four points, and Tydre Bradley added two points.

Northview (10-0, 3-0 in Class 1A, District 3) traveled on the road Monday night to face Escambia Charter, but that game was not complete by press time. The Chiefs will host Holmes County in a district game Thursday.

The Chiefs girls (2-7, 1-2) also earned a win Thursday, defeating Rocky Bayou, 47-31. E’Layzha Bates led Northview with 15 points. Other scorers for the Chiefs were Danielle Steadham with 12 points, Angel Lathan with five points, Lana Clayton with five points, DeAsia Fountain with four points, and Jada Tucker, Mallarie Rigby and Keyth Grice with two points each.

Northview’s girls lost to Jay, 38-17, on Friday night.
