EA, ECHS fall short in playoffs

Both the Escambia Academy Cougars and Escambia County High School Blue Devils fell in the postseason last week, ending their seasons.

The Cougars saw their season come to an end Thursday night, as they fell at Glenwood Schools 61-36 in the AISA Class AAA semifinals.

Garrett Kirk had 15 points to lead the Cougars (13-12). Dalton Walker led Glenwood with 17 points.
ECHS fell in the semifinals of the Class 5A, Area 2, tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 4.

The Blue Devils (12-16) took a hard-fought 63-57 overtime loss to Jackson in the tournament, which was hosted by Vigor High School.

Malik McMillan led ECHS with 15 points, and Triston Knott added 14. Darren McMullen led the Aggies with 18 points.

The ECHS Lady Blue Devils also lost their first game in the area tournament, dropping a tough 44-43 defeat to Jackson on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
