Mrs. Roseatta Montgomery, 95, of Atmore, moved into her heavenly mansion on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at her home, with her family by her side.

A native of McWilliams (Wilcox County), she had been a resident of Atmore for over 70 years. After moving to Atmore, she joined Old Ship Missionary Baptist Church in 1941 and served faithfully as an Usher until her health begin to fail. In addition to being the oldest Usher at Old Ship MBC, she was also a Deaconess.
In her leisure, she enjoyed fishing, cooking, and sewing. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death her husband, Jonas Montgomery, her father, Walter Stallworth; her mother, Dorshie Andrews; her stepfather, Nick Andrews; her three sons, Jonas Montgomery Jr., Leslie Montgomery, and Joe Montgomery; her three sisters, Zadie Andrews, Georgia Haynes, and Callie Reeves; and her brother, Leslie Andrews.

Those who will forever hold fond memories of her are her two daughters, Dora (Alexander) McMillan and Rosie (David) Ephraim, all of Atmore; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at Old Ship Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Willie Williams, eulogist, and the Rev. James Crook, host pastor.

Retirement of her remains will be in Stallworth Cemetery. Public viewing will be Friday, from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Her body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service, with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
