Betty Jean Davis Lane

Betty Jean Davis Lane, 85, reached the end of her journey here on earth on Sun., Jan. 10, 2016.

Betty Jean was preceded in death by her parents, John Oscar Davis and Ida Bates Davis; husband, the Rev. J.M. Lane Sr.; 11 brother; and 10 sisters. Betty’s death ends a long generation of wonderful people.

Betty is survived by her children, Joe (Angela) Lane and Becky (Ralph) Kos; grandchildren, Amanda Kos, Andy Kos, Lawrence Lane, Bryant Lane and Maggie Lane; great-grandchildren, Peyton Caldwell and Stella Kos.

Betty leaves behind many family members and friends. Special thanks goes to Jean Lane, Betty Powell and Phyllis Greear, who have stood by Betty through a very difficult end of life.

Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, tomorrow, Thurs., Jan. 14, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be Fri., Jan. 15, 2016, at Enon Baptist Church in Goodway, Ala. Viewing will be at 1 p.m. with services starting at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Isaac Johnson Sr.

Isaac Johnson Sr. was born on Oct. 31, 1955, and departed this life on Jan. 1, 2016, in a Mobile hospital. He was a longtime resident of Atmore.

0106 Johnson ObitHe graduated from Escambia County high School in the Class of 1973. He was better known as “Ike.” He loved working on cars. He worked for UPS in New Jersey for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Minnie Johnson; a sister, Shirley Beverly; and his oldest son, Isaac Johnson Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 40 years, Lynn Johnson; three daughters, Kimberly Bradley (Robert) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Patricia Finklea and Ashley Johnson, both of Atmore; three sons, Mark Hall, Courtney Lucas and Isaac Johnson III, all of Atmore; three sisters, Pearlie Mae Shedron, Lunell (John) Redmond and Ceola (Hulbert) Coleman, all of Atmore; four brothers, Alfred (Delois) Johnson, Steve (Pam) Johnson and Randy (Annette) Johnson, all of Atmore, and Winston (Jean) Johnson of New Jersey; 16 grandchildren; a step-grandson, Carmello Brown; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held today, Jan. 13, 2016, at noon from Pillar Ground and Truth Holiness Church in Atmore with Apostle Nancy Cottrell. Interment will be held in Stallworth Cemetery. Mayberry Funeral Home will be directing.

Nathan Lavoid Lowry

Mr. Nathan Lavoid Lowry, 75, passed away on Sat., Jan. 9, 2016, in Atmore.

Mr. Lowry was a native of Jay, Fla. and a resident of Wawbeek since 1970. Mr. Lowry owned and operated AAA Diesel Service Inc.; and he was a lifetime member of the Atmore Saddle Club and Cow Pen Creek Hunting Club. He was a member of the Browndale Baptist Church in Jay.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Cassie Lowry; four Brothers, Clifton Lowry, Hubert Lowry (Bugs), Jesse Lowry (Boss) and John Lowry.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Glenda Lowry of Wawbeek; one son, Tracy (Dawn) Lowry of Auburn; one daughter, Tiffany (Chad) Muilenburg of Dawsonville, Ga.; four brothers, Sam (Jeanette) Lowry of Jay, Curt (Lavelle) Lowry of Jay, Travis (Charlotte) Lowry of Nokomis, Fla. and Frank (Melinda) Lowry of Jay; five sisters, Martha (Bob) Boutwell of Jay, Elaine (Tim) Findley of Pace, Fla., Mary Beasley of Jay, Sandra Holt of Flomaton and Debbie (David) Walther of Jay; and six grandchildren, Tayler, Daniel, Aaron, Aaric, Alston and Charli Grace.

Funeral services were held on Tues., Jan. 12, 2016, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Leake and the Rev. Earle Green officiating. Burial followed at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers were Matthew Payne, David Barkett, Henry Lowry, Chad Muilenburg, Ted Clayton III and Neal Lowry.

Honorary pallbearers were James Chastang, Felix Nicholas, Larry Porter, Tommy Stallworth, Mike Smith, J.R. Godwin, Donnie Payne and Ted Clayton II.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.

Sherry L. Bishop

Sherry L. Bishop of Bay Minette, died Jan. 11, 2016.

She was a resident of Bay Minette.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Mayberry Funeral Home.

Earl Ben Reynolds

Earl Ben Reynolds, 91, of Atmore, passed away on Sun., Jan. 10, 2016, in Atmore.

He was retired after more than 38 years as a freight agent of service with the L&N/CSX Railroad.

Born in Atmore on April 11, 1924, to the late Bergen and Nobie Lloyd Reynolds, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed at Panama Canal, trained at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

He was a member of Martinville Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Myra Jane Reynolds; five brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors are his wife, Kathryn Lee Knight Reynolds; two sons, Earl Eugene (Bobbie) Reynolds and Christopher Allan Reynolds, all of Atmore; grandchildren, Michael Reynolds and Heather Reynolds; and great-grandchildren, James Reynolds and Jeremy Reynolds.

Services were held on Tues., Jan. 12, 2016, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sonny Willingham and Bro. Willie Olgesby officiating.

Interment followed in Serenity Gardens.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home INC. was in charge of all arrangements.
