Atmore Christian School may have lost 68-54 to Central Christian last week, but the Rams have moved on and are focusing on the Panhandle Christian Conference, which starts on Friday at Aletheia Christian Academy.

ACS plays Aletheia at 1:30 p.m. The Rams have a 2-0 series advantage over ACA this season.

ACS coach Tim Battles said the Rams enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed.

“We’ve beaten them both times, and they’re hosting the tournament,” he said. “That’ll make the task tougher to get that third win.”

Battles said the Rams beat Aletheia by 11 and 14, previously, and that both games were hard fought.

“It’s going to be a tough task, but we can do it and should do it,” he said. “We better show up and ready to have a good fight on our hands.”

If the Rams (8-9) win over Aletheia, they’ll play Central Christian in the next round.

Battles said the loss to CCA last week was due to the players not moving their feet well.

“We know what we need to do (against CCA if we win over ACA),” Battles said. “(Thursday night), we were a step slow on defense.”

Battles said the focus this week has been not committing fouls and rotating correctly on defense.

“We know what we need to do against Aletheia,” he said. “They recently lost their big man, who was their leading rebounder. That gives us a more distinct advantage in the rebounding department.

“We need to dominate the boards, and make it tough so they’re not going to rebound over us,” he said.
