Escambia County ended its season tonight in a 44-28 loss to Faith Academy in Atmore.

The Blue Devils trailed Faith 23-22 at halftime, and 37-28 at the end of the third quarter.

ECHS head football coach Royce Young said the players hung in well during the first half.
“They came out and scored on their opening drive to start the third,” he said. “We let them score another time, and then went up by two touchdowns.”

From there, Young said it was a back and forth game.

With about four minutes left to play, the Blue Devils had one last drive and got it close to the red zone, but ended up turning it over on downs.

“Devon Robinson had a super night at quarterback, probably was the best night for him,” Young said. “As usual, we were undersized and they were stronger up front. Devon made some nice plays in the passing game.”
On the season overall, ECHS steadily improved throughout the season, despite having to replace players in positions because of injury or other means, Young said.

“We really had a good group of seniors as far as their character,” he said. “It wasn’t meant as a criticism. Right now, the positives will surely to goodness help the going forward.”

Young said tonight’s game was a good indication of where the program is headed, in spite of the loss.

“The loss didn’t reflect how hard our kids played,” he said.

ECHS ended its season 2-8.
