Brooks said the Atmore Police Department contacted the ECSO in reference to a complaint they received on Feb. 10, 2017, of the allegations that were made against Weekes. He added that the APD, FPD and Poarch Police Department assisted with the investigation.

A short time after Weekes was arrested for rape, he was also arrested and charged with allegedly providing marijuana to a minor. He was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and distribution of drugs to a minor.

Brooks said the rape case will be presented to the Escambia County grand jury, and Weekes remains in the county detention center awaiting a bond hearing.
