Rain in forecast for Atmore; flash flood watch issued

Update: A flash flood watch has been issued for Escambia County, Ala. and Fla. from Tuesday through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast details include multiple rounds of heavy rain associated with potential tropical cyclone No. 3. The heavy rain, combined with saturated soil conditions, will result in the potential for significant flash flooding, which will impact areas closer to the coast, according to the NWS.

Rainfall amounts are expected to be between 4-8 inches with isolated areas of 10-plus inches.

Rain is in the forecast for Atmore, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms increases to 70, likely, tomorrow and decreases to 60 percent tomorrow night.

On Wednesday, the chance of thunderstorms is 60 percent, 70 percent on Thursday and 50 percent on Friday.
