Atmore man arrested for meth

An Atmore man is in jail on methamphetamine drug charges, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said that John Duane Flowers Jr. was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest occurred in the Nokomis area.

Lambert said ECSO Deputies Sam Weeks and Brandon Barlow were responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area, along with illegal drug activity in the area.

“The deputies made contact with Flowers Jr. and as a result of the contact, deputies found him to be in possession of a plastic bag with a clear crystal substance,” he said.

Lambert said Weeks and Barlow performed a field test on the drugs and it showed positive for methamphetamine.

Lambert said upon further investigation, the deputies found him to be in possession of drug paraphernalia used to inhale or ingest illegal drugs.

Flowers was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center, where he awaits a bond hearing.

“Deputies Weeks and Barlow answered the response fro the community in a timely manner,” Lambert said.
