With two outs, NHS managed to put two runners on for Herrington. Both runners advance to second and third base with Herrington at the plate and the Lady Chiefs trailing 4-3.

Herrington hit the ball hard toward the shortstop, who had trouble grasping the ball. This delay allowed the second and game-winning run to cross the plate.

On the mound, Herrington struck out 14 batters and allowed four runs on five hits. She didn’t give up a hit during the first four innings.

NHS battled back from a 4-2 deficit in the bottom of the 10th inning.

The Lady Chiefs tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning on a sac fly.
