Funeral services for Ms. Merline Rabb, 78, of Connecticut, formerly of Atmore, will be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel LLC.

Ms. Rabb passed away on Fri., June 15, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Connecticut.

 

Donald Nall

Donald (Don), Nall, 69, of Huxford, passed away on Fri., June 8, 2018.

He was born on Sept. 18, 1948, to the late John and Letitia Nall. Don graduated from Escambia County High School and received an associate’s degree from Jefferson Davis Community College and a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering and industrial electronics from Cleveland Institute of Electronics.

Don pursued an advanced degree in art from the University of South Alabama and held many state and federal certifications in electronics, electrical and hydraulics. Don retired from Masland Carpets with 47 years of service. He was a loving husband, father and devoted grandfather.

Don was a beloved member of the community. He was an evangelist of the word of God for the Pentecostal Faith and an avid musician, painter/artist, quail hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Nall; mother, Letitia Ella Nall; brother, Nathan Nall; and sister, Donnie Mixon.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Morris Nall, of 41 years, of Huxford; children, Jonathan Bradley (Olena) Nall of Cantonment, Fla., Philip Brandon Nall of Huxford and Thomas Matthew Nall of Huxford; grandchildren, Vanessa Lauren Nall and Ronan Bradley Nall; sisters, Marteaz Brockman of Norfolk, Va., Jannette Markman of. East Hampton, Conn. and Jaunita Williams (Wimpy) of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, Narveaz Nall of Newport, Wash. and Felix Nall of Perry, Fla.; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held on June 18, 2018, from the Atmore Memorial Chapel with Bro. Michael Montgomery and Bro. Chris Pruitt officiating. Interment followed at Sardis Primitive Baptist Cemetery at Huxford. Active pallbearers were Wesley Morris, James Bagwell, Kipp Moore, Brian Moore, Dale Williams and Austin Turberville. Honorary pallbearers were members of the class of 1967 and Destany Morris.

Family received friends June 18 at Atmore Memorial Chapel.

Walter Winston Gulley

Retired Master Sgt. Walter Winston Gulley, 79, of Troy, died on Fri., May 25, 2018, in Troy.

Walter was born in Robinsonville to the late Walter Byron and Allie Blackmon Gulley. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne Gulley; brother, Bill Gulley; and a daughter in law, Janet Aurd Gulley.

He served for 20 years and was retired from the United States Air Force and also from the Civil Service as a weather technician at the Troy Municipal Airport.

Funeral services for Walter Gulley were held June 1, 2018, from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with the Rev. Bo Weed officiating.

Burial with full military honors followed in the Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at Green Hills Funeral Home. Survivors include a wife, Jean Gulley of Troy; his children, Scott (Ann) Gulley of Montgomery, Melissa Gulley of Montgomery and Mark (Leah) Gulley of Matthews, N.C.; his step-children, Terry Whittington of Atlanta and Sharon McGraw of Lafayette, La.; his grandchildren, Hope, Karel, Allan, Joy, Elizabeth, Mark, Jr. and Rebecca Gulley; his step-grandchild, Amanda Boyles; his step great-grandchildren, Joseph, Liam and Noah; his brothers, Joe Gulley of Atmore, James Gulley of Pensacola and Tom Gulley of Springfield, Tenn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Robinsonville Baptist Church, 4441 Robinsonville, Rd. Robinsonville, AL 36502. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home was honored to serve the Gulley family.

 

Lucille Mitchell Peacock

Mrs. Lucille Mitchell Peacock, 86, passed away on Wed., June 13, 2018, in Mobile.

She has resided in Atmore for most of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore and the Order of Eastern Star Huxford. She retired from Vanity Fair Mills after 36 years of service. She then went on to getting a degree in cosmetology school at Reid State, where she also taught for 16 years. She retired again and started working for Atmore Realty until full retirement.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, A.J. “ Jr.” Peacock; and parents, Robert and Nellie Mitchell.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Peacock Gordon (Don) of Atmore; one granddaughter, Dr. Amber Gordon Butler (Brad) of Daphne; one great-grandson, Alexander Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on June 16, 2018, from the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Arnold Hendrix and the Rev. James E. Dukes officiating.

Burial followed at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Visitation was held June 15, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Melvin Byrd, Winston Byrd, Don Fischer, Jessie Blair, Ray Singleton and Aubrey Peacock.

Marilyn M. Ross

Marilyn M. Ross, 68, of Poarch, passed away on Fri., June 15, 2018 in Atmore.

She was a homemaker, born in Atmore on July 20, 1949, to the late M.C. and Hattie Lou Presley Morris.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene R. Ross; and a son. Berry L. Ross.

Survivors are one son, Steven (Regina) Ross of Poarch; three brothers,

Mack Morris of Pensacola, Fla., J.R. Morris of McDavid, Fla. and David Morris of Perdido; four sisters, Mary Bell McGhee of Atmore, Annette Nall of Huxford, Lannette Turberville of Uriah and Gailette Moore of Atmore; four grandchildren, Elliot Ross, Troy Ross, Alex Ross,and Abby Ross; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Wed., June 20, 2018, from The Friendly Holiness Church, with Bro. Ray Ward and Bro. Don Davis officiating. Interment will follow in New Home Cemetery at Poarch.

Family received friends June 19, 2018 at The Friendly Holiness Church.

Myra V.T. Henry

Myra Virginia Turk Henry, 86, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away on Tues., June 12, 2018, at her residence.

She was retired from Vanity Fair Mill, born in Choctaw County on Feb. 21, 1932, to the late Ulin B. and Effie Myles Nordan. She was a member of Pine Barren Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan Turk; and her son, Robert Glenn Turk.

Survivors are a sister, Georgia Dukes of Linden; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held June 16, 2018 from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with  Bro. Mike Harper officiating. Interment followed in Serenity Gardens.

Rayford Eugene Caraway

Rayford Eugene Caraway, 61, of McCullough, passed away at his residence on Thurs., June 14, 2018.

He was a truck driver, born in McCullough on March 3, 1957 to James H. and Doris Linam Caraway. He was a member of McCullough Christian Center.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Caraway; and a brother, Larry Caraway.

Survivors are his wife, Kim Weaver Caraway; his father, James H. Caraway; one son, Justin Caraway; one daughter, Michelle (Colt) Morris, all of McCullough; and four grandchildren, Mia Morris, Bradi Morris, Colton Morris and Hamp Morris.

Services were held on June 19, 2018 from the McCullough Christian Center with Bro Cornelius Phillips officiating. Interment was held in Judson Cemetery.

Family received friends June 19, at the McCullough Christian Center.

Roy Alexander Baggett

Mr. Roy Alexander Baggett, 76, passed away on Sat., June 16, 2018, in Pensacola, Fla.

He was a native of Uriah and has resided in Atmore for the past 44 years. He was a retired correctional officer (State of Alabama) with 32 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, worked the gate at the race track, mechanic, auto, lawnmowers, tractors and etc.

He was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Zadie Baggett; and one brother, Douglas Baggett.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Evie Baggett of Atmore; one son, Rex Alexander (Stephanie) Baggett of Atmore; two grandchildren, Lindsey Baggett and Clay Dall, both of Atmore; three brothers, Ronald (Linda) Baggett of Atmore, William (Janice) Baggett of Lottie and Kenneth (Patricia) Baggett of Uriah; and four sisters, Bobbie Lee Stinston of Frisco City, Sharon (Sam) Tuberville of Uriah, Mary Ann (Edward) Stuart of McKenzie and Lois Baggett of Poarch.

Funeral services were held June 19, 2018, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Peebles officiating.

Burial followed at the Little Rock Cemetery.

Visitation will be held June 19, 2018, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Josh Baggett, Chance Baggett, Riley Baggett, David Cooper, Doug Murphy and Cameron Murphy.

Sara JoAn Nix

Sara JoAn Nix, 84, of Atmore, passed away on Sat., June 9, 2018, in Atmore.

She retired from the First National Bank of Atmore with 42 years of service as a loan officer. She was born in Roberts on Jan. 18, 1934, to the late Richard Lee and Alyne Murphy Barnes Sr. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Nix; and siblings,

Wendell Barnes, Richard L. Barnes, Jr., Harold Barnes and Ila Merle Franklin.

Survivors are two sons, Gregory Thomas Nix of Atmore and Richard Allen

(Ellen) Nix of Spanish Fort; one brother, Robert E. (Barbara) Barnes of

Gadsden; two sisters, Kathleen Reaves of Pace, Fla. and Peggy Grice of Irvington; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 16, 2018, from the First Baptist Church of Atmore with the Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Family received friends June 16 at The First Baptist Church of Atmore.

LaTangie A. Commings

LaTangie A. Commings was born on July 8, 1959, to Betty Jo Jones and David Buford Jr. in Nashville, Tenn.

She was a graduate and degree recipient from Redford High School of Detroit, Mich., Adrian College of Adrian, Mich., University of Mobile and Argosy University of Atlanta, Ga.

She was known to have the gift of gab, crafts, traveling and quality time on the beach.

Tangie was a believer of Christ at an early age, being baptized at Missionary Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Detroit. Upon her move to Atmore, she became a member of Deliverance Ministry of Jesus Christ No. 1.

Later, she joined with the Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center.

Once she joined in holy matrimony, she found it befitting to join with Destiny Worship Center, where she remained faithful and loyal until her unexpected call to eternity on June 10, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Buford Jr.; grandparents, David and Ella Buford Sr. and Charles and JoAnna Jones; brothers, Carlos L. Buford and Eric D. Buford; aunts, Mary Horton, Mabel Buford and Charles Jones McCraskey; and mother in law, Octavia Green.

Those who will forever cherish her precious divine memories include a husband, Tracy A. Commings of Atmore; a loving daughter, Jolecia B. Pearson of Hanover, Pa.; step-daughter, Lakeshia America, Lakita Brown and Shieta Finklea, all of Atmore; step-sons, Brandon Commings of Atmore, a loving precious and caring mother, Betty Jo Jones of Atmore; sisters, Raven B. Felix of New Orleans, La., Donna Jones of Lithonia, Ga. and Linda Buchanan of Nashville, Tenn.; god sisters, Dr. Felicia Bishop, Cythia Dailey, Cindy Hartley and Chandra Johnson; god brothers, Dr. Bernard Bishop and Minister Rodney Bright; father in law, Richard Crenshaw of Mobile; brothers in law, Christian J. Green and Marcia Keyes (Michael); sister in law, Tracy Buford; aunts and uncles, Charles Jones Jr. (Geraldine) of Tacoma, Wash. and George Jones (Mercedes) of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; devoted nephew, Tyran; devoted nieces, Nevahea, Zyyah and Arrica; devoted cousins, Sharon, Derick and Michael Anthony; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends too numerous to name.

A celebration of life was held on Sat., June 16, 2018, at Destiny Worship Center.
