Alvin Leroy Bradley

Mr. Alvin Leroy Bradley, 69, of Walnut Hill, Fla., exchanged his earthly home for his heavenly mansion on Tues., Aug. 7, 2018, at his residence.

Born to the parentage of Henry and Gertrude Bradley, Mr. Bradley was a native and longtime resident of Walnut Hill and a graduate of Ransom High School in Florida, and Atmore Vocational Tech in Atmore.

He was a retired maintenance planner from Georgia Pacific in Brewton with over 26 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam Conflict and was a family man who loved his family dearly. For his leisure and relaxation he enjoyed farming, fishing, gardening and helping others. Mr. Bradley was instrumental in the organizing of the Walnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as the fire chief for many years.

Loving memories of him will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Yvonne Bradley of Walnut Hill; a daughter, Nicole (Gary) Pfister of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Rodney Bradley of Mobile and Patrick Bradley of Cantonment; three sisters, Willodean Knighten of Pensacola, Fla., Annette (Alfred) Williams of Walnut Hill and Bobbie Longmire of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, James (Debra) Bradley of Chicago and Glenn Bradley of Walnut Hill; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held tomorrow, Thurs., Aug. 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Gaines Chapel AME Church, 122 Carver Ave, Atmore with the Rev. Amos Smith, pastor, officiating.

Inhumation with full military honors will be held on Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola. Public viewing will be held today, Wed., Aug. 15, from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home and his body will lie instate at the church one hour prior to the funeral service with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

 

Joyce Renea Bryars Sprinkle

Mrs. Joyce Renea Bryars Sprinkle, 50, passed away on Sat., Aug. 11, 2018,  in Mobile.

She was a native of Atmore and has resided in Uriah most of her life. She was a member of the Little River Holiness Church. She is preceded in death by her father, O.W. Bryars.

She is survived by her mother, Joyce Bryars of Uriah; husband, Terry J. Sprinkle of Uriah; two brothers, Frank (Angela) Bryars of Bay Minette and Timmy (Jackie) Bryars of Walnut Hill, Fla.; one sister, Tammy Bryars of Uriah; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Aug. 13, 2018, at the Little River Holiness Church with the Rev. D.L. Harville and Bro. Tony McMillian officiating.

Burial followed at the Mineola Cemetery.

Visitation was held Aug. 13, 2018 at the Little River Holiness Church.

Pallbearers were Randall Christiansen, Danny Jeter, Aaron Hadley, Heath Bryars, Austin Jennings and Dakota Bryars.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Sprinkle, John Morris, Lester Peavy and Hank Paul.

Louis B. Long

Mr. Louis B. “Andy” Long, 61, passed away on Sat., Aug. 11, 2018, at his residence in Canoe.

He was a native of Atmore and has resided in Canoe for most of his life. He was employed with Southern Towing with 18 years of service, an avid fisherman and was a member of the Corinth Primitive Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Neal Long.

He is survived by his mother, Ann Long of Canoe; two sons, Thomas (Ashley) Long of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Richard Long of Perdido; two brothers, Scott Long of Canoe and Jerry (Christine) Long of Atmore; one sister, JoAnn Long of Century, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Triston, Cameron, Alyssa and Aleigh.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 14, 2018 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Freeland officiating.

Burial followed at the Canoe Freewill Cemetery.

Visitation was held August 13, 2018 from at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Mike House, Greg House, Chris House, Triston Long, Cameron Long and William Cottingham.

Honorary pallbearer was Billy Gates.

Mack David Harrelson

Mr. Mack David Harrelson, 69, passed away on Thurs., Aug. 9, 2018, at his residence in Canoe.

He was a native of Brooks and has resided in Canoe most of his life. He was of the Holiness Faith.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Francis L. Harrelson of Canoe; two daughters, Rhonda (Jimmy) Boutwell of Canoe and Hannah (Stephen) Johnson of Atmore; one brother, James Harrelson of Atmore; one sister, Ella McCarter of Georgiana; eight grandchildren, Laura (Jerome) Quinn, Bake Flowers, Benjamin Boutwell, Cheyenne Johnson, Landon Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Paidin Dantzler and Jacklyn Harrelson; one great-grandchild, Daniel Quinn; and special niece and nephew, Wendell and Roxanne Harrelson.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 11, 2018, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.

Burial followed at the Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

Visitation was held Aug. 10, 2018 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Dustin Lindsey, Christopher Boatwright, Mikey Harrelson, Jeffrey Hightower, Justin Hightower and Shawn Boutwell.

Mark Anthony Singleton

Mark Anthony Singleton, 55, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away on Aug. 5, 2018.

He was born July 22, 1963 in Pensacola, Fla. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Groce and Vera Singleton and Jim and Josephine Flowers. He worked for Champion/International Paper Co.

He is survived by his parents Gene (Betty) Singleton of Atmore and Joyce (Jimmy) Mason of Walnut Hill, Fla.; two sons, Brian Singleton of Milton, Fla. and Bradley Singleton of Bellevue, NE; two brothers, Autry Singleton of Mobile and Darryl (LaDawn) Singleton of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Janet (Tim) McCraney of Headland and Janine (Charlie) Walker of Molino, Fla.; and one grandchild, Chole Teagan Singleton.

Funeral services were held Aug.10, 2018 from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with his cousin, Elosie Stewart officiating. Burial followed in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Walnut Hill, Fla.

Active pallbearers were Gene Autry Singleton, III, Dakota Singleton, Shadow Singleton, David Bell, Phillip Robbins, Mike Digmon, Kim Norie, Gene Miller, Claude Wiley, Charlie Walker and Terry Maughon.

Visitation was held Aug. 9, 2018 from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Tilman North

Mr. Tilman “Terry” North, 75, a resident of Uriah, passed away on Fri., Aug.10, 2018, in Pensacola, Fla.

He was born Dec. 6, 1942 to the late John and Nora North.

He was retired from Monsanto after 25-plus years service and was the owner of T and T Auto Repair in Atmore for over 15 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Norvell Parker North of Uriah; his children, Tilman North Jr., Juanita (Charles) Roberts, Bishop Catadro (Kimberly) North, Marcine Jackson, Charles Jackson and Jerry Jackson. He was the brother of Robert (Shirley) North, Johnnie Mae North, Zora Mae North, Joyce and the late James North.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wed., Sept. 15, 2018, from Empowerment Tabernacle Church in Atmore with Bishop Catadro North, pastor and eulogist. Interment will be held in Fairview cemetery.

Services are entrusted to Mayberry Funeral Home.
