Robert Haskew Middleton Sr., 97, of Atmore, passed away on Oct. 16, 2018 in Fairhope.

He was a retired salesmen, born in Pineapple on April 16, 1921, to the late James Lambert and Phenie Owens Middleton.

He served in the Army as a World War II veteran, and as a member of the American Legion in Atmore, giving 75 years of service. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys Middleton; grandson,

Will Middleton; and a brother, Zolon Middleton.

Survivors are a son, Bob (Linda) Middleton of Gulf Shores; a daughter, Pam (Pat Rowan) Middleton of Irvington, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Jill (Bryan) Arnold and Adam Middleton; and a great-grandson, Will Middleton.

Services were held Oct. 19, 2018 from the First Baptist Church of Atmore, with the Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors.

Robert Louis Coleman

Mr. Robert Louis “Smiley” Coleman, 71, of Atmore, surrendered to the Master’s Call on Wed., Oct. 10, 2018, at the Atmore Nursing Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Atmore, “Smiley” as he was affectionately called by all who knew him, was a hardworking, dedicated and caring person. He was one of the best when it came to maintaining flowerbeds and cutting. He was always smiling and offered compliments. He was a faithful member of the Mt. Gillead Baptist Church (Freemanville) and attended Escambia County Training School.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Those left to cherish memories of his life are a devoted niece, Celia (Carl) Staples of Atmore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service was held on Sat., Oct. 20, 2018 at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church (Freemanville) with Elder Edgar McCarthy serving as eulogist and the Rev. Gary Bryant as pastor. Inhumation was in the Pierce, Rabb, and Montgomery Cemetery (Freemanville) with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

 

Cecil Perry Hudson

Mr. Cecil Perry Hudson Sr., 68, of Atmore (Freemanville), fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Wed., Oct. 17, 2018, at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

A native of Monroe Co., Mr. Hudson was a resident of Atmore for most of his life. He attended school in Escambia County and worked as a farmer and logger.

He enjoyed fishing and story telling and he loved entertaining his grandchildren. As he began to experience health problems, he could be seen riding his motorized wheelchair all across the Freemanville Community. He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Jerlynne Smiley Hudson on Oct. 17, 1988 and on the date of their 30th year anniversary, he transitioned to his home on high.

Those left to cherish fond memories of his life are his wife, Jerlynne Hudson of Atmore; three daughters, Vonda Leslie Bynum and Caryn (Kyler) Carter, both of Atmore, and Tracey McNeil of Detroit, Mich.; a son, Cecil P. (Elsie) Hudson Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Minnie L. Hudson of Atmore (McCullough Community) and Barbara Ann Hudson of Hobart, Ind.; two brothers, James (Alberta) Hudson and Sammy (Margaret) Hudson, all of Atmore; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service was held on Oct. 23, 2018, at Longmire-Jones Memorial Chapel of Turner Funeral Chapel with Elder Edgar McCarthy as pastor, and Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church of Atmore (Freemanville) officiating. Inhumation was in Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

 

Tamoka D. Norman

Ms. Tamoka D. Norman, 45, of Atmore, exchanged her earthly life for eternal life on Thurs., Oct. 18, 2018, at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.

A native and lifelong resident of Atmore, Tamoka was a 1992 graduate of Escambia County High School and Jefferson Davis Community College with an associate’s degree in business administration. She had worked as a machine operator at Masland Carpets and a Clerk with Diamond Oil Co.

Tamoka was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and she was a sociable person whom had many friends and she was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan.

Loving thoughts and memories will live on forever in the hearts and minds of her son, Darrius L. Norman of Atmore; her mother and stepfather, Annie L. (Lawrence) Norman Dandridge of Atmore; a brother, Javaris A. Norman of Atmore; and aunts, uncles, niece, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held this Sat., Oct. 27, 2018, at noon at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center in Atmore with the Rev. Michael Wilson Sr., pastor of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, officiating; and Bishop Darryl North as host pastor. Inhumation will be in Fairview Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Friday from 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Her remains will lie in repose at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

Anna Lucile Sells

Mrs. Anna Lucile Sells, 89, passed away on Sun., Oct. 21, 2018, at her home in Poarch.

She was a native of Bay Springs, Fla. and has resided in Poarch most of her life. She was a proud member of the Poarch Creek Indians.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton “Half” Sells; a son, Melvin James Sells; step-son, Van Ike Sells; mother, Viola Jackson; grandson, Eric Rolin; great-grandson, Ethan Warden; four brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her two sons, Billy Glen (Betty) Sells of Cantonment, Fla. and Milton Darrell (Mary Jane) Sells of McCullough; four daughters, Hattie Louise Knowles of Poarch, Pandora (Frank) Andrews of Atmore, Vicky (Douglas) Burns of Perdido and Tera (Frankie) Coon of McCullough; three sisters in law, Mable Jackson of Poarch, Joyce Ann Jackson of Poarch and Martha Jane Jackson of Poarch; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Charlene Pugh, 49, of Atmore, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at her residence.

She was employed by Atmore Community Hospital, in purchasing. She was born in Escambia County on Feb. 18, 1969, to Jimmy Eugene and Margaret Ann Jones Jay.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Ann Jones Bryars; and a stepson, Aaron Jake Pugh.

Mrs. Charlotte Yvonne Moye, 63, passed away on Fri., Oct. 19, 2018.

She was a native of Century, Fla. and resided in the Brewton-Flomaton area for most of her life. She was a member of the Flomaton Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Courtney Pridgen.

She is survived by husband, Curtis Moye of Brewton; one son, Ronald Moye of Byrneville, Fla.; two daughters, Daphne (Jeremy) Pridgen of Flomaton and Tonya (Matthew) Rolin of Flomaton; two brothers, Mike Turner of Theodore and Steve (Angie) Turner of Byrneville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Hubert Sydney Reed, 78, passed away Sun., Oct. 21, 2018, at his home in Bay Minette.

He was a native of Washington County and has resided in Bay Minette for the past 44 years. He was retired from Piggly Wiggly as manager with over 20 years of service, and an avid golfer. He was a member of the Full Power Holiness Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. J.C. Reed and Mary Reed; and siblings, Carl Reed and Irma Lee Partin.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeral Dean Buckhault Reed of Bay Minette; three children, Hubert S. (Daphne) Reed Jr. of Bay Minette, Felisa Reed (Lenzy) Williams of Bay Minette and Jason Carl (Ashley) Reed of Perdido; eight siblings, Virginia Fillingham of Mobile, Joann Chastang of Foley, Norma Jernigan of Foley, Charlene Sullivan of Foley, Myrtice Wilson of Mobil, Otis Reed of Bay Minette, J.C. Margaret Catherine Gollotte

Mrs. Margaret Catherine Gollotte, 75, born April 25, 1943, passed away on Thurs., Oct. 18, 2018, in Mobile.

She was a native of Uriah and has resided in Mobile for the past 53 years. She was a member of the Poarch Creek Indians and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Goodway. She was the assistant manager for the Meadowlake Elementary School in Mobile, where she was known as “Granny.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Vicie Lou Gregson; son, Stanford D’Wayne Gollotte; four brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Stanford W. Gollotte of Mobile; one son, Brian Keith Gollotte of Mobile; two daughters, Catherine Walker of Theodore and Margaret Charlene Allen of Irvington; two sisters, Eloise Lassitter of Booneville and Doris (Duck) Phillips of Uriah; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; special friend, Leasha Martin of Atmore; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Oct. 23, 2018 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Trevor Daughtery and the Rev. Jerry Sanchez officiating.

Mrs. Nancy Lee Barbarow, 72, passed away on Fri., Oct. 19, 2018, at her home in Perdido.

She was a native of Atmore and had resided in Perdido for the past 18 years. She was of the Holiness Faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Barbarow; daughter, Tammy Carpenter; son, Robert Flowers; granddaughter, Brittney Pace; two sisters, Mary Roberson and Daisy Colvin; and four brothers.

She is survived by her two sons, James Malcolm (Cheryl) Harrelson of Perdido and Michael (Shauna) Harrelson of Atmore; two daughters, Debra Diane Boatwright of Perdido and Susan Renee (Ronnie) Paul of Perdido; two brothers, Wilburn Cecil Boutwell of Oregon and Chester Eugene Boutwell of Perdido; three sisters, Lucille Wright of Evergreen, Shirley Barbee of Mobile and Christine Long of Canoe; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Georgia Earline Burkett

Georgia Earline Burkett, 81, of Atmore, died on Mon., Oct. 22, 2018, at her home in Atmore, surrounded by family.

Burkett, the daughter of the late Grace and Stiner Weaver, was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Burkett, of Alexander City; three brothers, Cecil Weaver, Claude (Frances) Weaver and Clarence (Elizabeth) Weaver, all of Atmore; and a sister, Louise (Earl) Wilson, of Bay Minette.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Burkett; a daughter, Gail Bell, both of Atmore; a sister, Alice (Richard) Walsh, of Pensacola; a brother, Donald Ray (Peggy) Weaver; a grandson, Blake (Stephanie) Bell; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Colin Bell, all of Atmore; a daughter in law, Donna Burkett, of Spanish Fort; a sister in law, Connie Weaver, of Bay Minette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burkett was born Jan. 8, 1937, in Atmore, where she raised two children. She was a long time member of Presley Street Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held today, Wed., Oct. 24, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore. Funeral services will be held Thurs., Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Simpson and the Rev. Dempsey Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
