HAWTHORNE, Calif. – Mrs. Alberta Harris, 81, of Hawthorne, Calif. formerly of Atmore transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at Gardena Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif.

She was a native of Camden and had been a housewife. She attended Escambia County Training School and was a member of Harris Street AOH Church of God where she was an usher, choir member and on the mother’s board.

Her husband, Rubin Harris Sr. and her parents, preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish the memories of her are two daughters, Linda (Willie) McMillan of Hawthorne, Calif. and Yolanda (Darron) Jones of Birmingham; one son, Rubin Harris Jr. of Atmore; two brothers, Elijah Clifton Jr. and Calvin Clifton, both of Pine Hill; three sisters; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at the Harris Street AOH Church of God in Atmore with Elder Quillas Mitchell, pastor, officiating. Retirement of her remains will be in Stallworth Cemetery in Flomaton with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore directing.
