Deacon Horace Clayton Cunningham, 78, of Atmore, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 at Sacred Heart Hospice in Pensacola, Fla.

A native of Monroeville, Deacon Cunningham moved to Atmore at a young age and he attended Escambia County Training School. He was employed with Terra International Co., where he worked for over 30 years. He was member of Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church before he, by his wife’s side, founded Glory Tabernacle Church in Freemanville Community, where he served as Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Henry Cunningham and Ms. Elizabeth Norman; a sister, Clara Stallworth Costic; and a brother, John Henry Cunningham.

Those left to cherish memories of his life are his wife of over 50 years, Dr. Blanche James Cunningham of Atmore; two daughters, Nadine Cunningham-Bey of Pensacola and Tunya James Cooper of Atmore; two sisters, Minister Leslie (Murray) Hill and Evangelist Frances St. George, both of Atmore; a brother, Alfred Ingram I of Atmore; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service was held on Sat., Oct. 19, 2019 at Longmire – Jones Memorial Chapel of Turner Funeral Chapel, 83 Westbrook Lane, Atmore with his wife, Dr. Blanche Cunningham officiating.

Retirement of his remains was in Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
