Lady Devils fall to Saraland 36-35

The Escambia Lady Blue Devils’ six-game win streak ended last Friday night with a 36-35 loss to the Saraland Lady Spartans.

The Lady Blue Devils (10-11, 2-3) were in a tight game with the Lady Spartans (7-22, 1-5), but could not stop them from coming up with important shots in the fourth quarter.

Saraland was able to squeak out a lead in the first quarter as they oustscored the Lady Blue Devils 7-4.

In the second quarter, the Lady Spartans again outscored ECHS this time 11-8 to roll into halftime leading 18-12.

Following halftime, the Lady Blue Devils gained some momentum, but the final period proved to be the difference maker.

Escambia County put up a strong third quarter as they outscored the Lady Spartans 17-8 and grabbed the lead 29-26.

In the final quarter, the Lady Spartans were able to hit the shots they needed as they outscored ECHS 10-6 to come away with a narrow 36-35 win.

The Lady Blue Devils were led in the loss by Diamond Williams and Jasmine Ireland. Williams recorded 13 points, six rebounds, three steals and an assist, while Ireland scored six steals, two assists and a rebound.

Breanna Martin added four points and six rebounds in the loss.
