Michael Kimball Whitener

SPANISH FORT – Mr. Michael Kimball Whitener, 62, of Spanish Fort died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 in Calhoun, Ga.

He was born in Dalton, Ga. on March 18, 1948, son of the late Kimball and Doris Pinson Whitener.

Mr. Whitener was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army. Masland Carpets in Atmore employed him as a technical director.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Aida “Ronnie” Whitener; a son, Michael D. Whitener and his wife, Cindy, of Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter, Karen M. Whitener-Steely and her husband, Lynn, of Calhoun, Ga.; a sister, Jackie Couch and her husband, Jim, of Gaffney, S.C. and grandchildren, Cameron Whitener, Ryan Whitener, Breanna Steely and Jacob Steely. Cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles, and other extended family members also survive.

Mr. Whitener’s body will be cremated and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made in Mr. Whitener’s name to the American Cancer Society.
