Athletics win 2 games Saturday

Under a bright blue sky, five Atmore Cal Ripken League baseball games were played at Tom Byrne Park during Mayfest on Sat., May 6.

Games were held from mid morning to early afternoon.

FNB&T Athletics 18, Poarch Warriors 6

Riley Harrison and Gabe Hooks scored three runs and tallied three hits each to lead the Athletics.

The Athletics started out big in the first inning, scoring seven runs. They put the game away in the second with five additional runs to go ahead 12-3.

In the third, the Athletics scored six runs.

Poarch scored one run in the third and two in the fourth.

Luke Chavors, Brayden Phillips, Iston Hetrick and Brodie Phillips had two hits each for the Athletics. Jamarrion Hooks scored two runs and had three hits, including a homerun.

Ethan, Jackson, Carson, Britt, Crimson, Hayden, Bradley and Tyee had one hit each for Poarch.

FNB&T Athletics 2, Flomaton 1

J. Hooks tied the game with a homerun, and Chavors stole home with two outs, all during the fourth inning.

Flomaton got on board in the first inning on an RBI single from Ian White that scored Keaton Payne.

The Athletics’ pitching staff and defense in the field quelled any offensive play from Flomaton for the rest of the game.

Other than Hooks and Chavors, Phillips and Shawn McBriden had one hit each.

Danny Wilson and Colton Rollin had one hit each for Flomaton. Payne and White had two hits each; and Grayson Whittlesworth had a hit.

Flomaton-

Singleton 13, Lions Club Cardinals 1

Flomaton scored two runs in the first and third innings, one run in the second, five runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth in the win.

The Cardinals scored one run in the fourth inning.

CJ Spann led Flomaton with three runs and four hits, including a double and three singles. Jaxon Singleton had two hits and two runs; JT Sprello scored two runs; Bradon Woods had two hits; Ryan Lee had two hits; and Austin Lambeth had two hits. Nolan Chavers, Ethan Jordan and Neston Filmore scored one run each.

Rease McGill scored the only run for the Cardinals in the fourth inning.

Luke Bell had two hits; Shawn Tingstrum had two hits; Charllie Sasser had two hits; and Brady Black had two hits for the Cardinals.

United 

Bank Warriors 7, Poarch Red Sox 5

United Bank battled back from a two-run deficit to tie the game at 5-all in the fourth inning, and plated two runs in the sixth for the win.

The Red Sox scored two runs in the first inning and three runs in the third.

The Warriors cut the lead to 5-3 in the third after a sacrifice hit from Mason McKorner, and walks for Levi Crawford and Nick Bowen.

United Bank tied the game in the fourth after an RBI triple from Samma J. Lett that scored Tate Hawkes, and an RBI double from Makai Baldwin.

Bowen and Grant Sasser scored the eventual game-winning runs in the sixth for the Warriors.

Jett Tillery and Cameron Walker scored two runs each for the Red Sox. Brantley Vinson scored one run.

Flomaton Canes 2, Poarch Braves 0

Flomaton’s Easton Odom hit an RBI double to score Braden Hall, and Luke Fore hit an RBI triple to score Odom in the first inning.

The Canes managed two more hits the rest of the game.

Braden Hall led Flomaton with two hits.

Samuel Daughtry, Braiden Walker, Braylon Snow and Trey Lane had one hit each for the Braves.
