If you're not in the holiday spirit yet, don't blame the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce.
On Saturday night, the chamber put together what many people are calling one of the best parades the city has ever hosted. There were bands and floats and cheerleaders, not to mention Santa Claus and a firefighter perched a mile high in the sky.
Children scurried for candy while others watched in wonder as the participants paraded down Main Street. There were smiles all around n in the crowd, in the procession and on the faces of the exhausted organizers, led by Judy Pylate and Greg Colbert.
The parade wasn't their only duty that day. The chamber also hosted a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning, followed by photos at the Watson Cabin at Heritage Park. Chamber Ambassadors played the part of elves, serving muffins and juice as the youngsters waited for a chance to sit on Santa's knee.
It was the first of many area events celebrating the Christmas holidays. Area churches have scheduled numerous performances in the coming weeks to remember the reason for the season.
If you haven't already, catch the holiday spirit. And pass it on.
