Mr. Burrell "Buster" Wilson Purvis, 97, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at a Baldwin County hospital.
Mr. Purvis had been a resident of Atmore since 1905 and a member of Brook's Memorial Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen Purvis.
He is survived by a son, Kellum M. Purvis of Atmore; a daughter, Dorothy F. Mathis of Montrose; his sister, Irene Little of Mobile; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mike Grindel and the Rev. Dave Mellor officiating.
Pallbearers were Walter R. Wiggins, Leonard Purvis, Donald Purvis, Douglas Purvis, James Helton and Bennie Purvis.
Mrs. Maggie Marguerite "Davis" Seale, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at a Mobile hospital.
Mrs. Seale had been a resident of Canoe for most of her life and a member of Canoe United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Lee Seale.
She is survived by four sons, Lee Verne Seale and Murlon Seale, both of Atmore; Floyd Seale of Wawbeek and Clifford Seale of Canoe; six daughters, Lucille Butt of Theodore, Jessie Swindle of Flomaton, Nancy Nelson of Foley, Mary McClain of Bay Minette, Dottie West of Conyers, Ga., and Lois Creamer of Bratt; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at Hall Family Cemetery with the Rev. Danny White and the Rev. Bill Watts officiating and Atmore Memorial Chapel directing.
Pallbearers were Jason Murlon Seale, Tracy McClain, Dudley Wilson, Allan Butt Jr., Eddie Nelson and Chris Seale.
Mr. Joel Myles Smith, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at a Baldwin County hospital.
Mr. Smith had been a lifetime resident of Bay Minette and a member of Atmore Church of Christ. He was retired from Mothershed Oil Company and a member of Perdido Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Downy Smith and a son, Jack Arnold Smith.
He is survived by two sons, Otis Smith of Spanish Fort and Charles Larry Smith of Bay Minette; four daughters, Nell Ree Phillips of Pensacola, Shelba Jean Laurintzen and Betty Lou Roberson, both of Deer Park, Texas, and Patricia Smith Robertson of Bay Minette; two sisters, Ruth Lambard of Houston, Texas and Edna Flowers of Bay Minette; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel with Minister Paul Dickerson officiating.
Active pallbearers were David Phillips, Bobby White, Robby Robertson, Victor White Jr., Charles Smith, and Craig Smith. Honorary pall bearers were Dale Roberson and Myles Smith.
