Tlithia Edna Danley Hill Monroe
Mrs. Tlithia Edna Danley Hill Monroe, 78, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at a local hospital.
She was born June 13, 1921 in the McCullough community to the late Clarence and Lula Mae Smith Danley. In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by two husbands, Joseph C. Hill and John C. Monroe; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by three sons, James (Bo) Monroe of Atmore, Charles C. Hill of Jacksonville, N.C. and Harvey E. Hill of Atmore; two daughters, Martha P. Johnson of Robertsdale and Margaret Davis of Pace; one half-sister, 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Chuck Willis, Tony Hadley, Tim Runnell, Bruce Yancey, Jamie Lucuson and Jason Hill. Alternates were Randy Paul and David Yaden.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Little River Baptist Church with Rev. Bennie Stokes officiating. Internment was in the church cemetery. Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Dorothy Smith Brown
Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) Smith Brown, 60, of Poplar Dell, Fla., died Thursday, May 11, 2000 in a Pensacola hospital after an extended illness.
She was a native of Century and lived most of her life in Poplar Dell before returning home to Gulf Breeze.
She was a member of the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church.
Her love of family is shown in everything around her and her helping hands will be missed by all of the community.
She is survived by her husband, John D. "Bugs" Brown of Poplar Dell; one daughter, Dottie Kay Radcliffe and her husband David; one son, John Hampton and his wife Paula Brown; five grandchildren, Kristen, Brittany and Nicholas Radcliffe, Holly and Kara Brown, all of Gulf Breeze; five brothers and sisters, Buster and Ruby Smith of Poplar Dell, Mobidine Johnson of Christine Home, Fla., Pearl Brown of Ensley, Jerry and Darlene Brown of Gulf Breeze and Joe and Ann Brown of Gulf Breeze; several nieces and nephews and too many friends to count.
Pallbearers include Joey Brown, Mark Brown, Aaron Smith, Darrin Smith, Chris Parker and Zach Parker.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 14, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. John Fillingem officiating. Burial will be in the Christian Home Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
Mary Alice Bradley
Mary Alice Bradley, born January 4, 1915, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000 at the family residence. She was a native of Repton, Ala.
She was a master gardener and homemaker. She was a member of Friendship A.M.E. Church in Daphne.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Sam Bradley, Sr. of Daphne; two sons, Richard and his wife Minney and Sam Bradley both of Daphne; a daughter, Inez B. Dale, of Daphne; one brother, Lewis Green and his wife Everlean of East St. Louis, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Malcolm Bradley of Birmingham; one sister-in-law, Ruth Hubbard of Daphne; 31 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a host of cousins and other relatives and many special friends.
Funeral services will were held Saturday, May 13, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Friendship A.M.E. Church in Daphne with the Rev. Carl Martin officiating. burial will be held in the Friendship Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
