Headmaster Judy Branum gives all the credit to her faculty and staff.
She's talking about a new plateau reached at Escambia Academy. The school recently received the President's Award for academic excellence.
According to Branum, the President's Award is given to one school in each of the three AISA classifications.
Branum said her goal has been to improve in each area considered for the award.
Also considered are the number of members on the Academic All-state team. Ben Hardy represented EA this year.
The talent search state winners also factor into a school's overall score. This year EA had four TIP winners: Cooper Jones, Melanie Hetzel, Kerrianne Castleberry and Andrew Johnson.
One shining accomplishment for the school this year was the number of seniors receiving academic scholarships.
Other academic programs considered for the award include art, science, spelling, scholars bowl, math and the number of extracurricular programs offered by the school.
Branum said although their is always room for improvement, to be recognized in this manner tells her the school is providing a well-rounded education.
