Tennis players compete in Atmore Open fundraiser

Tennis competitors from surrounding areas battled 100-degree heat and each other in the 2000 Atmore Open held at Tom Byrne Park last weekend. The open, organized by Huxford Elementary School Principal Betty Warren, was held as a fundraiser for her school.
Players competed in A, B and C divisions of men's singles, A and B divisions of men's and mixed doubles, and women's singles and doubles.
RESULTS
Men's Singles A: George Coate, Satsuma, def. Tommy White, Atmore, 6-1, 6-3.
Men's Singles B: Joe Walding, Citronelle, def. Jay Powell, Bay Minette, 6-4, 6-2.
Men's Singles C: Greg West, Citronelle, def. John Martin, Brewton, 6-0, 7-6.
Women's Singles A: Anna Beech, Atmore, def. Brandy Rigsby, Atmore, 6-4, 6-0.
Men's Doubles A: Bobby Hood and Kevin Norris, Monroeville, def. Billy Madison, Atmore, and Jerry Carpenter, Flomaton, 6-4, 6-0.
Men's Doubles B: Ross Terry, Atmore, and Vic Smith, Walnut Hill, def. Greg West and Ray Johnson, Citronelle, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
Women's Doubles: Anna Beech and Betty Warren, Atmore, def. Brandy Rigsby and Sarah Stephens, Atmore, 6-1, 6-2.
Mixed Doubles A: Pat Hendrix and Bobby Hood, Monroeville, def. Candy Lomax and Joe Walding, Citronelle, 6-1, 6-1.
Mixed Doubles B: Anna Beech and Mark Powell, Atmore, def. Brandy Rigsby and Judd Coley, Atmore, 6-4, 6-4.
