William Earl "Joe" Godwin

Mr. William Earl "Joe" Godwin, age 66, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 in Atmore.
Godwin was a native and resident of Atmore and a member of the Crosspoint Baptist Church. He was employed with the Van Pelt Dairy for almost 40 years.
Godwin was preceded in death by his mother, Nannie Sheets; his step-father, Melvin Sheets and his brother, Eugene Godwin. He is survived by his wife, Francis Mae Burkett Godwin; three sons, David Godwin, Terry D. Godwin and Tommy Godwin, all of Atmore; one brother, Gills Godwin of Atmore and one sister, Mary Nell Elkins of Atmore.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 28 at 10 a.m. in Atmore. Burial took place in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tex Hildreth, Brian Burkett, Buddy Godwin, Casey Townson, Vestus Kelly and Steven Rigby. Honoraries were Don Moye, Lonnie Sanders, Steven Burkett and Gary Powell.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 27 from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, which was in charge of the arrangements.
