Mrs. Melissa Kay Burkett, 33, of Atmore, died Tuesday, August 15, 2000 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Burkett was born on January 16, 1967 to Christian J. and Linda Gail Peacock Shenk in Atmore.
She is survived by her husband, Michael W. Burkett of Atmore; one son, Jakob M. Burkett; one step-son, Klinton M. Burkett, both of Atmore; mother and step-father, Jerry and Ann Shenk of Wawbeek; grandmother, Virgie Cumbie of Canoe; one brother, Christian Shenk of Atmore; two step-brothers, Raye Barrow of Albany, Ga. and Scott Barrow of Tampa, Fla.; and a dear friend, Bonnie Jarman of Atmore.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 17, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Woody Allison officiating.
Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Roger Scott, Phillip Burkett, Thomas Godwin, Franklin Barlow, Robert Day and Justin Sanspree.
Honorary pallbearers were Cynthia Barlow and Archie Brown.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
