Alton Eugene Johnson

Mr. Alton Eugene Johnson, 78, died Tuesday, September 3, 2000, at Veterans Hospital in Tuskegee.
He was a native of Uriah and a resident of Atmore for the past 50 years. He was a member of Presley Street Baptist Church and American Legion Post 90. He was retired from Graham Brooks Wholesale after 25 years and was a partner with Mixon Johnson Tobacco Company for the past 3 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during W. W. II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ima Mae Johnson and two brothers, Millard Johnson and Ernest Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Gladys Johnson of Atmore; a son, Melvin E. Johnson of Eufaula; a daughter, Brenda J. Tomas of Atmore; a brother, William A. Johnson of Quitman, Miss. and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 3 at 2 p.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel with Bro. Earl Stabler and Bro. Winston Williams officiating.
Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pall bearers were Marcus Tomas, Bryan Johnson, Gerry McGhee, Ramond Kimmons, J. C. Moye and James Burkett. Honorary pall bearers were Jack Madison, Jack Wright, Cecil Neal and E. S. Babe Robinson.
Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
