It's time for the Escambia Academy Cougars to ante up.
This Friday's game with Crenshaw Academy is the first area game for the Cougars.
The Cougars enter area play with an 0-4 record, one that head coach Mickey Cannon feels is not indicative of the team's ability.
Cannon said success depends on the Cougars ability to continue to play strong defensively and their ability to establish a running game.
The Cougars found success running the ball in the first half of last week's game against Faith. Unfortunately, the Cougars could not sustain that success in the second half.
The challenge for the Cougars this week is to play a full four quarters on both sides of the ball.
Cannon is optimistic about the Cougars' chances in area play.
The Cougars are at home this Friday.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
