The Escambia County Blue Devils will face a very tough foe this week as last year's 5A state runnerup comes to town.
While the Devils have not played Williamson in a number of years, they are now a member of their area which means this will become a yearly contest. While they have already lost one game, they defeated Blount 32-0 earlier in the season and are still a good pick to make it to the finals this year.
ECHS Head Coach Frankie Bell said that Williamson possesses a great passing game that will be a true test for his team.
But, Bell's top concern is to minimize the mistakes made by his own team in order to stay in the game.
Bell said the Devils may have to go to the air more themselves this week in order to keep the Williamson defense off the line.
The Devils are 0-1 in their area right now and a victory could get them back on track.
Bell also figures to work in more younger players now that they have a few games under their belt.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at ECHS.
