The Flomaton Hurricanes traveled to Jay Friday night looking for their fifth win of the season, however, they ran into a buzzsaw that was much better than their 0-4 record indicated.
Jay won the toss and received the opening kickoff. Tony DeGraf returned the ball 43 yards and gave the Royals a first and 10 at the 47-yard line. On their first offensive play, the Royals fumbled and Brian Wesley recovered for the Canes. The Canes were unable to establish anything offensively and were forced to punt after three plays.

Flomaton then put together a small drive that covered 29 yards. Most of these came from a 21 yard pass reception from Jesse Allgood to Bo Newton. The Royals then stiffened their necks and forced the Canes to punt.
On first and 10 from their own 20, Brandon Morris connected with Josh Nowling for an 80-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion attempt was no good. At the end of the first quarter the Royals led 14-0.
The Royals started the second quarter with a first and 10 from their own 21-yard line. They quickly drove 79 yards for another touchdown with Josh Nowling scoring on a 25-yard run. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful. With 9:09 remaining in the second quarter, the Royals led 20-0.
After forcing the Hurricanes to punt after three offensive plays, Jay set up shop on the Hurricane 20-yard line and orchestrated another 80-yard drive. The touchdown was made when Brandon Morris connected with Aaron Farish from six yards out. Morris then connected with DeGraf for the two point conversion. With 4:06 remaining in the first half the Royals lead 28-0
The Hurricanes then began to show some life after picking up a first down. However, the Royals slammed the door shut when Nowling intercepted a Hurricane pass. Then Royals then drove 44 yards for the final score of the first half when Nowling scored from two yards out. Morris then connected with DeGraf for the two-point conversion. The Royals led at halftime 36-0.
During the third quarter, the Royals scored their final touchdown of the night as Josh Lewis scored on a four-yard run. The two-point conversion was no good.
With 4:43 remaining in the game the Hurricanes put together a 44-yard drive. Shawn Yuahsz rushed for 41 of the 44 yards. Allgood scored from the two yard line on a quarterback sneak. Shawn Yuahasz scored on the two-point conversion.
The final score was 42-8 in favor of Jay.
Flomaton head coach Jerry Carpenter was disappointed with his team's effort.
