Aaron Jake "A.J." Smith, 7, died Saturday, December 2, 2000, in Escambia County.
A J. was a resident of Atmore and a first grade student at Rachel Patterson Elementary School.
He was preceded in death by his step-grandmother, Clara Starrett; his great-grandfather, Calvin Parnell and step-great-grandmother, Mary Starrett.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, David and Kathy Smith of Atmore; his mother and stepfather, Kristie Starrett and Tony Starrett; a sister, Santara Reigh Starrett of Barnett Crossroads; a step-brother, Christopher Croll of Atmore; a step-sister, Kristina McCosh of McDavid, his grandparents Jerrell and Josephine Johnson of Atmore, Carl Starrett of Barnett Crossroads,Patricia Johns of Villa Rica, Ga., Shannon Lamar Johns of Molino and Pete and Mary Smith of Huxford; his great-grandmothers, Loree Walls of Atmore, Katie Capers of Century, Mary Singleton of Frisco City, Tiny Louise Parnell of Tibbie and Virginia Stewart of Atmore; a step-great-grandfather, Carl J. Starrett of Houston, Texas and numerous aunts and uncles.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, December 5 at 2 p.m. at Moyeville Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Daniels and the Rev. Robert Thrower officiating.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
