The Escambia Academy Lady Cougars were looking to get back in the win column after a loss to Faith Academy last week. They found their win at Greenville Academy as they stopped the Tornados, 48-17.
The Lady Cougars' defense played well, especially early in the game as they held Greenville to only two points in the first period and six in the second. By the half, EA held a 23-8 lead.
They extended the lead to 32-16 by the end of the third period.
Head coach Chad Prewett said his team's intensity had been low, but that a strong week of practice brought more hustle during the game.
Leading scorers for the Lady Cougars were Holly Mack with 17 points and Jessica Gibbs with 15.
Gibbs also led the team with 10 rebounds.
The Lady Cougars record was improved to 7-3 with the win. Their area record sits at 1-0.
They will prepare to participate in the Monroe Academy Tournament on Dec. 15 and 16.
