Mr. William Claude "Billy" Howell Jr., 62, of Forest Home died Sunday, February 18, 2001.
He was a retired forester for Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation. He was an Auburn graduate and active member of Auburn University Alumni Association, Alabama Forestry Association, Log-A-Load For Kids, National Rifle Association, was a past Boy Scouts of America troop leader, Century member and Order of the Arrow member. He was honored with the Boy Scouts Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to youth. He was also recipient of the Man of the Year Award presented by Brewton Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Howell is survived by his mother, Lucille Luttrell Howell of Atmore; a daughter, Jennifer Howell Gibney of Mobile; a son, Donald A. Howell and his wife, Anna S., of Birmingham; a sister, Barbara H. Dickerson of Atmore; four grandchildren, Keehln Carr Gibney and Kelby William Gibney, both of Mobile, and William Robert Howell and Margaret Elizabeth Howell, both of Birmingham; a niece, Dawn Malone and her husband, Ted and their children, Molly and Ryan Malone, all of Atmore.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 21 at 10 a.m. at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Dukes and the Rev. John Finklea officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jill Harper, Van Huff, Robert Johnson, Wayne King, Randy Leutzinger, Patrick Neely, Pat Newby and Jim Shirley.
