Mr. Cary Ellis Powell, 88, long time resident of Atmore, died Sunday April 15 2001, in Birmingham
Mr. Powell was retired from a heavy equipment contracting business, owned and operated a concrete business in Milton and served as a Councilmen on the Atmore City Council.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen Benjamin and Bessie Ivey Higdon Powell and his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Oparee Milstead Powell.
Mr. Powell is survived by two daughters, Mary Helen Manning of Roanoke, Ala. and Betty Crook of Tuscaloosa; a brother, A. B. Powell of Davisville; a sister, Eunice Chandler of Milton,; a niece, Janice Bishop of Mobile, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glynn Milstead officiating.
Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were David Bishop, Kevin Crook, Paul Crook, Cary Manning, Evan Manning and Brad Price.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc was in charge of arrangements.
