Barbara Nell Cunningham Osenton Holmes, 87, of Clayton, Ga. formerly of Atmore, died Monday. April 9, 2001, at Mountain View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clayton.
She was born in Summitville, Ind., raised in Olive Hill, Ky. and educated at the Erie School. She received her nursing degree in Covington, Ky. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clayton.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Henry Leroy Cunningham and Ruth Durham Cunningham; her first husband, Joseph Malcolm Osenton, and her parent-in-laws, Cecil and Vicie Holmes.
Holmes is survived by her husband, Arvel "Coach" Holmes of Clayton, ; a daughter, Roberta Osenton Moran of Auburn, Wash.; two sons, Joseph Middleton Osenton of Montgomery, and Denny Lee Osenton Sr. of Grayson, Ky; a step-son, Jimmy Holmes of Panama City; a sister, Joan Cunningham Nickalus-Raby of Rowland Hgts., Calif. and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on April 14 in Gadsden with the Rev. Kevin Kidd officiating. Burial was at the Holmes Family Plot at Crestwood Cemetery.
Village Chapel East Funeral Home of Glencoe, Ala. was in charge.
