Mr. Thomas Green "T. J." McNeal Sr., 69, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Mobile.
Mr. McNeal was a native of Perdido and an Atmore resident for many years. He was a member of St. Thomas AME Zion Church and spent four years in the U. S. Army serving in Korea. He was a car detailer and skilled laborer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthie Mae McNeal; his parents, Dunk and Carlie McNeal; three sisters, Bessie Collins, Lister McNeal and Lizzie Johnson and two brothers, Leo McNeal and Henry McNeal.
Mr. McNeal is survived by three daughters, Lettie Ann Richmond of Detroit, Mich. and Linda Denise and Ieisha Deun McNeal, both of Atmore; two sons, Thomas Green McNeal Jr. and Chuck Willis McNeal, both of Detroit; three sisters, Emily Davis of Atmore, Ruth Kyles of Roosevelt, N. Y. and Geraldine Syria of Ft. Deposit, Ala.; two brothers, Larry Mitchell of Atmore and Earl Carter of Ft. Deposit; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 12 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Thomas AME Zion Church with the Rev. Herman Steeles and the Rev. Sanford Davis officiating.
Burial was at Stallworth Cemetery.
Pallbearers were friends of the family.
Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
