Thoroughbreds remain unbeaten with tie to Macs

The Brantley Tire Thoroughbreds had outrun every opponent they faced until May 21 when the McDonald's Mighty Macs slowed them down just enough to earn a tie, 11-11.
Scoring for the Breds were Michaela Norman, three runs; Kay Leigh Miller, two runs; Emily Moore; Minikai Smith; Courtney Cooper; Victoria Mauldin; Sierra Redmond and Tamekia Boggan.
Miller pitched for the Breds.
Emily Vickrey scored four runs to lead the Mighty Macs. Leslie Cummings and Megan Donald scored two runs each. Rounding out the scoring was Canausha Crenshaw, Morgan Helton and Lauren Finney.
Helton pitched the complete game for the Mighty Macs.
Thoroughbreds 21, Balers 14
The Breds kept their winning streak alive on May 18 with a 24-14 victory over the Hendrix Tractor Balers.
Leading scorers for the Breds were Redmond and Shaqnandia Gray with four runs each. Cooper scored three runs. Miller, Norman, Moore, Smith, Boggan and Patsy Presley also scored.
Miller earned the victory on the mound.
April Garvin and Leandra Corey scored three runs each for the Balers. Other scorers were Malori McGhee, Tieka North, Kayla Gunn, Kristen Mathews, Victoria Searcy and Amber English.
Garvin pitched for the Balers.
Magnolias 10, Mighty Macs 8
The First National Bank Magnolias blossomed with five runs in the fifth inning to defeat the Mighty Macs, 10-8, on May 18.
Leading the charge were Courtney English, A. Bryars, Tori Rodriguez and Sara Beth Davis with two runs each. Brittany Holland and S. Montgomery also scored for the Magnolias.
The Mighty Macs were led by Morgan Helton who scored three runs. Vickrey came in to score two runs while Crenshaw, Cummings and Jordan Jaye chipped in one run each.
Magnolias 8, Balers 4
The Magnolias notched another victory on May 21 as they outscored the Balers, 8-4.
English led the way for the Magnolias with three runs scored. Montgomery finished with two runs while Rodriguez, Bryars and Davis scored one run each.
Rodriguez earned the win on the mound for the Magnolias.
April Garvin, Kristen Matthews, Makeria Williams and Niki Bryan scored the Balers' runs – all in the sixth inning.
Garvin pitched the game for the Balers.
Balers 16, Mighty Macs 13
The Balers earned their second victory of the season with a 16-13 win over the Mighty Macs on May 22.
Tieka North led the charge with four runs. Garvin and Malori McGhee scored three runs each. Leandra Corey scored two runs while Kaysie Malone, Makeria Williams, Bryan and Victoria Searcy scored on run each.
Garvin picked up the victory on the mound for the Balers.
Leading the Mac attack was Morgan Helton with three runs. Canausha Crenshaw, Leslie Cummings and Megan Donald scored two runs each. Emily Vickrey, Jordan Jaye, Lauren Finney and Ande Gideons rounded out the scoring.
Helton pitched for the Mighty Macs.
Thoroughbreds 17, Magnolias 7
The Thoroughbreds tromped the Magnolias, 17-7, on May 22.
Leading the way for the Breds were Tamekia Boggan with four runs. Shaqnandia Gray had three runs; Moore and Smith finished with two runs while Soyong Smith, Michaela Norman, Cooper, Redmond, Terresa Ramieri and Amber McMillan rounded out the scoring.
Miller earned the victory on the mound.
Tori Rodriguez and English scored twice for the Magnolias. S. Montgomery, A. Bryars and Amber Hubert also scored.
Rodriguez pitched for the Magnolias.
