To the editor:
Last week, I returned from an educational tour of Mexico where it was my privilege to have spent a week with six of my students from Escambia County Middle School.
I would like to take a moment to thank the anonymous benefactor, area merchants, the parents, and all the people who helped make this trip a reality. Your generosity was not misplaced as it provided an invaluable, first-hand opportunity for these young people to experience the history, culture and lifestyles of our Latin American neighbors.
Our students have returned with a new appreciation for the life we often take for granted. As guests in a foreign country, they were excellent representatives of the youth of their country, state, town, school and families, and I was proud to accompany them.
Thank you, Atmore, and thank you Kelsey, Meagan, Labridget, Jessie, Brittney and Marylynn.
