Mr. Willie Claude Sims Sr., 59, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at his home.
He was a native of Red Level and a resident of Atmore. He was a member and Deacon of Bethany Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a graduate of Escambia County Training School and was employed with Standard Furniture for 30 years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sims and Lanie Jordon Sims.
Mr. Sims is survived by his wife, Rosetta Sims of Atmore; four sons, Willie C. Sims Jr. and his wife, Felicia, of Huntsville, Gregory Sims and his wife, Katherine, and Antonio Sims and his wife, Tawanda, all of Atmore and Derwin Sims of Atlanta; four daughters, Dekisia F. Sims and Doetletia F. Sims, both of Atmore, Karcheik Alverado and her husband, Joel, of Atlanta and Tonjivanesse Sims of Birmingham; three brothers, Albert Louis Sims and his wife, Dorothy and Floyd Sims and his wife, Carol Bell, all of Birmingham, and James S. Sims and his wife, Josie, of Uniondale, N. Y.; three sisters, Rosie Lee Hartley and her husband, Jessie, Christine Kyles and her husband, A. C., and Orie D. Kyles and her husband, James, all of Atmore; 26 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three aunts; an uncle; six step-children; 17 step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Seventh Day Adventist Church with Elder Clifton McMillian Sr. officiating.
His sons were active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were his brothers.
Burial was at Fairview Cemetery.
Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
