Johnny Dread

Mr. Johnny Dread, 82, of Atmore, died Thurday, June 28, 2001, at Atmore Community Hospital.
He was a native of Castleberry and a resident of Atmore for many years. He had served two years in the U. S. Navy and was a retired sharecropper.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Moye Dread of Atmore; five daughters, Louise Johnson and Betty Armstrong, both of Atmore, Majorie Dread of Mobile, Mary Dread of Fairhope and Dorothy Gordon and her husband, Isaac, of Castle, N. J.; nine sons, Johnny Dread Jr. and his wife, Shirley, of Moss Point, Miss., Arthur Dread and his wife, Shirley, of New Orleans, La., Leroy Dread, Charlie Dread and James Dread, all of Mobile, Clarence Dread and his wife, Octavia, of Fairhope, Levester Dread and his wife, Agnes, of Daphne, Benjamine Dread and his wife, Dodeen, of Jackson and Claude Dread of Atmore; a sister, Willie E. Wells of Moss Point; two brothers, Jimmie Lee Dread and Ozzie Lee Dread, both of Moss Point; 31 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 3 at 1 p.m at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Anderson Bonner officiating.
Burial was at Stallworth Cemetery.
Pallbeares were his sons, grandsons and friends of the family.
Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
