Mr. Lewis Calvin "Buddy" Merritt Jr., 64, died Thursday, August 23, 2001, at Pensacola hospital.
Merritt was a native of Pensacola, a resident of Century for the past 25 years and a former of resident of Flomaton. He was retired from Monsanto/Elastomer Systems after 35 years and a self employed painter. He attended the Catholic Church, and was a member of LA Trail Riders and Hurricane Bream Fishing Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Maxine Holson Merritt, Sr., his wife Sybil Merritt and his son, John Elmer Merritt.
Merritt is survived by his daughter, Christine Merritt and John Curtis of Flomaton; three sons, Lewis C. "Lee" Merritt III and his wife. Wendy, of McCall, James Edward Merritt and his wife, Amanda, of Blue Springs, Ala. and Robert F. Merritt and his wife, Thosanna, of Skipperville, Ala.; two stepsons, Hurston Nicholas of Atlanta and Freddie Wayne Crow of Century; a stepdaughter, Patricia Ann McElwee of Phenix City; his sister, Carolyn Faye Spink of Pensacola; a nephew, James Lewis Adams of Pensacola; two nieces, Debbie Wales and Darlene Hammonds, both of Pensacola; seven grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Barbara Ann Morris of Clayton, Ala.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 26 at 2 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Wallace Reid officiating.
Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Lee Merritt, James Merritt, Robert Merritt, Lloyd Curtis, Travis Merritt and James Lewis Adams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Morris, Jake Merritt, Shana Merritt, Josh Merritt, Zach Merritt and Allisia Carnes.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
